The Golden Tzitz of the High Priest
צִּיץ זָהָב
Shmot 28.36 שמות
36.’ And you shall make a “Tzitz” of pure gold, and you shall engrave on it like the engraving of a signet (ring) “Holy to Hashem” (YKVK) - וְעָשִׂיתָ צִּיץ זָהָב טָהוֹר וּפִתַּחְתָּ עָלָיו פִּתּוּחֵי חֹתָם קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוָה (3632 =14=8 or 5002+10 words=5012=8 counting final Zadik and Mem as 900 and 600).
The verse can be divided so:
· And you shall make a Tzitz of pure gold- וְעָשִׂיתָ צִּיץ זָהָב טָהוֹר(121+4 words=8);
· And you shall engrave on it like the engraving of a signet- וּפִתַּחְתָּ עָלָיו פִּתּוּחֵי חֹתָם (1962=18);
· “Holy to Hashem” - קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוָה (460=10=1).
Rashi clarifies that the “Tzitz” was worn around the forehead and extended from ear to ear (see diagram below).
A Tzitz of pure gold
צִּיץ זָהָב טָהוֹר
424=10=1 or 1234=10=1
The number 424 is the gematria of the words “Mashiach son of David”-משיח בן דוד.
Thus Hashem will send His Mashiach from His Crown "Keter”-כתר to redeem the Children of Israel at the End of Days. The Mashiach will represent the writing on the Tzitz “Holy to Hashem”-קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוָה.
This is supported by the following gematria:
Mashiach-Holy to Hashem
משיח קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוָה
818=17=8
· HOLY קֹ דֶשׁ = 404 = 8
· TO לַ
· HASHEM י-ה-וָ-ה = 26 = 8
8 to 8
The 8 letters “Holy to Hashem”- קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוָה were formed by pressing wax into the gold behind the front (Rambam Hal.Kli HaMikdash 9.2). The words appeared on the front in two rows. On the first row was the word “Hashem”- יהוָה and below it the word “Holy”- קֹדֶשׁand then prefix “To”- לַ(Shabbat 63.b and Rashi there) .
Thus there were 4 letters on the top row and 4 letters on the bottom row-an even balance-half.
The gematria of the word “Half”-חצי is 108.
If the Name “Hashem”-YKVK י-ה-וָ-ה is spelt just with a letter Heh- :
Holy to Hashem
קֹדֶשׁ לַ ה'
439+2 words=441
Truth
אֶמֶת
441
אֶמֶת
441
If one sanctifies himself To Hashem through Torah and repentance then he finds “truth” and if by seeking the truth one becomes sanctified to Hashem. The two are indivisible as the Name of Hashem is “Truth”- אֶמֶת.
