An Argument for the Sake of Heaven

מחלוקת שהיא לשם שמים

(Avot 5.17):

Any argument which is for the Sake of Heaven, its end is to be substantiated (both opinions)

כל מחלוקת שהיא לשם שמים סופה להתקיים

ושאינה לשם שמים אין סופה להתקיים

And what is considered an argument for the Sake of Heaven?-The disagreements between Hillel and Shammai

איזו היא מחלוקת שהיא לשם שמים? זו מחלוקת הלל ושמאי

ושאינה לשם שמים? זו מחלוקת קרח וכל עדתו
