And I will send before you an Angel

שָׁלַחְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ מַלְאָךְ

Shmot 33.2

2.’ And I will send before you an Angel, and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite-וְשָׁלַחְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ מַלְאָךְ וְגֵרַשְׁתִּי אֶת הַכְּנַעֲנִי הָאֱמֹרִי וְהַחִתִּי וְהַפְּרִזִּי הַחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי (3681=18).

The verse can be divided so:

·         And I shall send- וְשָׁלַחְתִּי (754+1 word=17=8);

·         Before you an Angel- לְפָנֶיךָ מַלְאָךְ (1241=8 or + 2 words=10=1counting final Kafs as 500);

·         And I will expel the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hitite and the Perrizite, the Hivvite and the Jebusite- וְגֵרַשְׁתִּי אֶת הַכְּנַעֲנִי הָאֱמֹרִי וְהַחִתִּי וְהַפְּרִזִּי הַחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי (2646=18).

There are 7 nations that occupied the Land of Israel. Rashi comments here that there are only six mentioned here as the Girgashite- הגרגשי rose and abandoned the Land on their own accord when Israel arrived (Vayikra Rabbah 17.6).

1.       The Canaanite-   הַכְּנַעֲנִי=205

2.       The Emorite-       הָאֱמֹרִי=256

3.       The Hittite-            הַחִתִּי=423

4.       The Perrizite-        הַפְּרִזִּי=302

5.       The Hivvite-             הַחִוִּי=29
