An Argument for the Sake of Heaven
מַחֲלֹקֶת שֶׁהִיא לְשֵׁם שָׁמַיִם
In Mishna Avot 5.17 our Sages teach us:
Whenever a dispute is for the sake of Heaven, it [i.e., the position of both parties] will ultimately endure; but if it is not for the sake of Heaven, it will not ultimately endure
כָּל מַחֲלֹקֶת שֶׁהִיא לְשֵׁם שָׁמַיִם סוֹפָהּ לְהִתְקַיֵּם וְשֶׁאֵינָהּ לְשֵׁם שָׁמַיִם אֵין סוֹפָהּ לְהִתְקַיֵּם
