The Pesach Offering

 D'varim- דברים 16.6

6.’Rather at the place which Hashem your G-d shall choose to rest His Name, there you shall sacrifice the Pesach-Offering in the afternoon as the sun descends at the season that you departed from Egypt-כִּי אִם אֶל הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לְשַׁכֵּן שְׁמוֹ שָׁם תִּזְבַּח אֶת הַפֶּסַח בָּעָרֶב כְּבוֹא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ מוֹעֵד צֵאתְךָ מִמִּצְרָיִם (5162=14=8 or 9012+20 words=9032=14=8 counting final Mems and Kafs as 600 and 500).

The verse can be divided so:

·         Rather at the place which Hashem your G-d shall choose to rest His name, there you shall sacrifice the Pesach-Offering in the afternoon-כִּי אִם אֶל הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לְשַׁכֵּן שְׁמוֹ שָׁם תִּזְבַּח אֶת הַפֶּסַח בָּעָרֶב (3437=17=8);

·         As the sun descends- כְּבוֹא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ (674=17=8 or + 2 words=19=10=1);

·         At the appointed time that you departed from Egypt- מוֹעֵד צֵאתְךָ מִמִּצְרָיִם (1051+3 words=10=1).

The Place which He shall choose

הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִבְחַר

Mashiach

Rashi comments that three distinct time references are given in this verse:

·         The time of slaughter- “In the afternoon”               בָּעָרֶב =274+1 word=14=8

·         The time of eating-       “As the sun descends”-         כְּבוֹא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ=674=17=8

·         The time of burning -   “Time of your departure”-         מוֹעֵד צֵאתְךָ=631=10=1

1579+5 words=1584=18

Exodus from Egypt= 881=יצאת מִּצְרָיִם

The joint gematria of three actions required at each of these times is:

·         Slaughter-   זביחה=32

·         Eating-        אכילה =66

·         Burning-    שריפה =595
