Torah - The Remedy

תּוֹרָה תַּבְלִין

59.’Then Hashem will make your plagues and the plagues of your offspring astonishing - great and faithful plagues, and evil and faithful illnesses-וְהִפְלָא יְהוָה אֶת מַכֹּתְךָ וְאֵת מַכּוֹת זַרְעֶךָ מַכּוֹת גְּדֹלֹת וְנֶאֱמָנוֹת וָחֳלָיִם רָעִים וְנֶאֱמָנִים (4266=18).

The verse can be divided so:

·        

·         Then Hashem will make your plagues and the plagues of your offspring- וְהִפְלָא יְהוָה אֶת מַכֹּתְךָ וְאֵת מַכּוֹת זַרְעֶךָ (3159=18counting Kafs as 500);

·         Great and faithful plagues- מַכּוֹת גְּדֹלֹת וְנֶאֱמָנוֹת(1456+3 words=18 );

·         And evil and faithful illnesses- וָחֳלָיִם רָעִים וְנֶאֱמָנִים(611=8).

Rashi comments that they will be faithful in that they will achieve their purpose.

In this verse there are two curses:

Great and faithful plagues

מַכּוֹת גְּדֹלֹת וְנֶאֱמָנוֹת

1456+3 words=18

And evil and faithful illnesses

וָחֳלָיִם רָעִים וְנֶאֱמָנִים

611=8

The number 611 is the gematria of the word “Torah”- תורה; for being unfaithful to Torah Hashem will exact punishment with evil and faithful illnesses. It is also the antidote as it is written (Kiddushin 30.b):

I created the Evil Inclination

בָּרָאתִי יֵצֶר הָרָע

1188=18

And I created Torah as a remedy

 וּבָרָאתִי לוֹ תּוֹרָה תַּבְלִין

2048=14=8 or + 4 words=1+8

The number 2048 corresponds to the number 248 the gematria of the name “Abraham”-אברהם.
