11.’And the earth was corrupt before G-d- וַתִּשָּׁחֵת הָאָרֶץ לִפְנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים (3041=8 counting final Zadik and Mem as 900 and 600), and the earth was filled with Hamas (robbery/violence) - וַתִּמָּלֵא הָאָרֶץ חָמָס(881=17=8).

Rashi comments here that the root of the word for corruption-שָּׁחֵת corresponds to idolatry and sexual immorality . He says that the word “Hamas”-חָמָס means “robbery”- גזל as it is written in the Book of Jonah (3.8):

3.’And they shall cover themselves with sackcloth, both man and beast, and let them cry to G-d with might; and they will return (repent) each man from his evil way, and from the Hamas (robbery/violence) that is in their palms-וְיִתְכַּסּוּ שַׂקִּים הָאָדָם וְהַבְּהֵמָה וְיִקְרְאוּ אֶל אֱלֹהִים בְּחָזְקָה וְיָשֻׁבוּ אִישׁ מִדַּרְכּוֹ הָרָעָה וּמִן הֶחָמָס אֲשֶׁר בְּכַפֵּיהֶם (6569 =26=8 counting final letters).
