Forty days and forty nights

אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם וְאַרְבָּעִים לָיְלָה

Beraishit 24.18- בראשית

18. ‘And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and ascended the mountain; and Moses stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights-וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה בְּתוֹךְ הֶעָנָן וַיַּעַל אֶל הָהָר וַיְהִי מֹשֶׁה בָּהָר אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם וְאַרְבָּעִים לָיְלָה (2690=17=8). 

Rashi comments here that the Cloud was smoke like and a path opened up for Moses inside of it (Yoma 4.b). 

And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud

וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה בְּתוֹךְ הֶעָנָן

967+4 words=971=17=8

The gematria of the word “forty”- אַרְבָּעִים is 323=8.
