The Close relatives of a Priest

Vayikra 21.2-3

 קרובי משפחה של הכהן

 ויקרא 21.2-3

2.’ Except for his relative, that is close to him (wife-Rashi) for his mother, and for his father and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother-כִּי אִם לִשְׁאֵרוֹ הַקָּרֹב אֵלָיו לְאִמּוֹ וּלְאָבִיו וְלִבְנוֹ וּלְבִתּוֹ וּלְאָחִיו (1693=19=10=1).

The verse can be divided so:

3. ‘And for his virgin sister who is close to him, that has not been to a man (had relations) - וְלַאֲחֹתוֹ הַבְּתוּלָה הַקְּרוֹבָה אֵלָיו אֲשֶׁר לֹא הָיְתָה לְאִישׁ (2557+8 words=2565=18), for her may he make himself impure- לָהּ יִטַּמָּא (95=14=8).

A Priest is allowed to become impure and assist in the burial of the following “close relatives” 

 The joint gematria of these relatives as written in the above two verses is:

1.       His Wife                                                  שְׁאֵרוֹ הַקָּרֹב אֵלָיו=861

2.       His Son-                                                                 בְנוֹ = 58

3.       His Daughter-                                                          בִתּוֹ=408

4.       His Mother-                                                             אִמּוֹ= 47

5.       His Father-                                                             אָבִיו= 19

6.       His Brother-                                                            אָחִיו= 25

7.       His Virgin Sister-    אֲחֹתוֹ הַבְּתוּלָה הַקְּרוֹבָה אֵלָיו                               =1228
