Beraishit 27.9- בראשית
Rivkah sends Jacob to get two kid-goats
9.’ Go now to the flock and fetch me from there two of the best kid goats and I will prepare of them delicacies for your father as he loves-לֶךְ נָא אֶל הַצֹּאן וְקַח לִי מִשָּׁם שְׁנֵי גְּדָיֵי עִזִּים טֹבִים וְאֶעֱשֶׂה אֹתָם מַטְעַמִּים לְאָבִיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר אָהֵב (7421=14=8 counting final Nun, Mems and Kafs as 700, 600 and 500).
The verse can be divided so:
· Go now to the flock- לֶךְ נָא אֶל הַצֹּאן(278=17=8);
· And fetch me from there two of the best kid goats- וְקַח לִי מִשָּׁם שְׁנֵי גְּדָיֵי עִזִּים טֹבִים (2789=26=8 counting final Mems as 600);
· And I will prepare of them delicacies for your father as he loves-וְאֶעֱשֶׂה אֹתָם מַטְעַמִּים לְאָבִיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר אָהֵב (1624=6 words=1630=10=1 or 3224+6 words=3230=8 counting final Mems and Kaf as 600 and 500).
Rashi comments here that Rivkah tells Jacob to take from the flock two goats which belong to her (not stolen) as in her marriage contract it was so written by Isaac that she could take two young goats every day (Beraishit Rabbah 65.14).
Rashi adds that two goats were chosen as it was the day of the Pesach-Offering (14th Nissan) and one was for his Offering and the other was for delicacies (Pirkei D'Rebbi Eliezer 32).
The 14th of Nissan also became the “Fast of the First-Born”-תענית בכורות (1564+2 words= 18) as on that day Israel were commanded in Egypt to slaughter a kid and smear its blood on the lintel and doorposts to be saved from the Angel of Death that would kill the firstborn Egyptians on the night of the Exodus.
On this day the matter of the “firstborn” of Isaac was established. The evil Esau was to be “sacrificed” for the good Jacob. Thus two kids were brought.
The 14th of Nissan was also the day of Isaac’s birth. It is known that the righteous die on their birthday (Sotah 13.b; D’varim 31.2-Rashi). This is the reason why Esau thought that Isaac was going to die on that day. This is also the reason why this day was chosen to pass the birthright to Jacob.
The gematria of the words “take for me”- קַח לִי is 148.
The number 148 is the gematria of the word “Pesach”-פסח. Thus we learn that the events detailed here occurred on the 14th of Nissan the day of the Pesach sacrifice.
According to the Reverse Calendar the 14th of Nissan on earth corresponds to the 22nd of Tishrei-Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah - in the Eighth Sphirah. Thus Esau was "sacrificed" on Shemini Atzeret in the Metaphysical World.
The fact that Rivkah was provided for in her Ketubah with two goats is no coincidence. It teaches us that it was known to Isaac at the time of his marriage to Rivkah that he would have an evil son and a good son and that this day would arrive when he would have to do away with the evil son. The first goat corresponds to the sacrifice of Esau and the second goat corresponds to the saving of Jacob.
Moreover this act by Jacob at the command of Rivkah to take two kids is the source of the Yom Kippur ceremony when the High Priest would sacrifice one goat to atone for the sins of Israel (Jacob) and send the other to "Azazel" by throwing it to its death of a cliff (Esau) (Vayikra 16.8):
8.’And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats: one lot ‘to Hashem’, and the other lot ‘to Azazel’- וְנָתַן אַהֲרֹן עַל שְׁנֵי הַשְּׂעִירִם גֹּרָלוֹת גּוֹרָל אֶחָד לַיהוָה וְגוֹרָל אֶחָד לַעֲזָאזֵל (4407+12 words = 4419 =18 counting final Nun and Mem as 700 and 600).
One goat was chosen to Hashem- לַיהוָה (Jacob) and the other was thrown off a cliff to its death to “Azazel”- לַעֲזָאזֵל (Esau). This is further proved by the gematria:
Jacob- one lot to Hashem
גּוֹרָל אֶחָד לַיהוָה –יַעֲקֹב
490+4 words=17=8
Esau- one lot to Azazel
גוֹרָל אֶחָד לַעֲזָאזֵל –עֵשָׂו
773=17=8
Jacob- Goat to Hashem
יַעֲקֹב-שְּׂעִיר לַיהוָה
818=17=8
Esau –the Goat to Azazel
עֵשָׂוהַשְּׂעִירִ לַעֲזָאזֵל
1106=8
