The Sacrificial System
עבודת הקרבנות
The Laws of the sacrifices are of the most difficult laws to comprehend-both on a simple/ practical level as to their correct performance, and on a spiritual/metaphysical level as to understanding their nature and relevance.
On the most basic level of understanding it can be said that the sacrifices-קרבנות("Korbanot") were the method by which an individual or a community could come "near"-קרב ("Karev") to Hashem and to become “one” with Him. In so doing one would join the physical world with the metaphysical world- attaching 1 to 8 and 8 to 1.
The Priest was to be the “go between” between Hashem and the bringer of the sacrifice.
This is understood from the gematria of the word “The Priest”- הַכֹּהֵן which is 80=8 or +1 word=81 or 730=10=1 counting final Nun as 700.
The gematria of the word “service”-עבודה which is the general term given to the sacrificial work of the Priests is 87+1 word=88.
The gematria of the word “sacrifice”- קרבן is 352=10=1.
The word “sacrifice”- קרבן can also be read as “close to”- קרב “Nun”-ן.
The letter "Nun" has a gematria of 50 and corresponds to the "50 Gates of Understanding"- נ' שערי בינה, the Eighth Sphira.
Thus by performing work- עבודה (88) of “sacrifice”- קרבן (1) one attaches oneself to Hashem in the 8th Sphira.
The number 881 is the gematria of the word "Exodus from Egypt"- יצאת מצרים.
The joint gematria of the words:
· Service- עבודה = 87· Sacrifice- קרבן =352
439+2 words=441
The number 441 is the gematria of the word “Truth”- אמת.
Our Sages teach us that “Truth” is the Signature of Hashem. Thus His Torah which is Truth is His Signature which is written in the Code of Hai (1 and 8).
When one attaches himself to Hashem onee sees "Truth".
This was to be achieved through the Sacrificial System performed in the Temple of Hashem.
It’s that simple.
