The Footsteps of Mashiach

בעקבות משיחא


It is written in the Talmud nearly 2000 years ago (Mishna-Sotah49.2):



IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE MESSIAH  INSOLENCE WILL INCREASE AND HONOUR DWINDLE;  THE VINE WILL YIELD ITS FRUIT [ABUNDANTLY] BUT WINE WILL BE DEAR;  THE GOVERNMENT WILL TURN TO HERESY  AND THERE WILL BE NONE [TO OFFER THEM] REPROOF; THE MEETING-PLACE [OF SCHOLARS] WILL BE USED FOR IMMORALITY; GALILEE WILL BE DESTROYED, GABLAN (Golan)  DESOLATED, AND THE DWELLERS ON THE FRONTIER WILL GO ABOUT [BEGGING] FROM PLACE TO PLACE WITHOUT ANYONE TO TAKE PITY ON THEM; THE WISDOM OF THE LEARNED  WILL DEGENERATE, FEARERS OF SIN WILL BE DESPISED, AND THE TRUTH WILL BE LACKING; YOUTHS WILL PUT OLD MEN TO SHAME, THE OLD WILL STAND UP IN THE PRESENCE OF THE YOUNG, A SON WILL REVILE HIS FATHER, A DAUGHTER WILL RISE AGAINST HER MOTHER, A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW, AND A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD; THE FACE OF THE GENERATION WILL BE LIKE THE FACE OF A DOG,  A SON WILL NOT FEEL ASHAMED BEFORE HIS FATHER. SO UPON WHOM IS IT FOR US TO RELY? UPON OUR FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN!

  • בעקבות משיחא חוצפא יסגא, ויוקר יאמיר: הגפן תתן פריה והיין ביוקר, ומלכות תהפך למינות, ואין תוכחת, בית וועד יהיה לזנות, והגליל יחרב, והגבלן יישום ואנשי הגבול יסובבו מעיר לעיר ולא יחוננו, וחכמות סופרים תסרח, ויראי חטא ימאסו, והאמת תהא נעדרת. נערים פני זקנים ילבינו, זקנים יעמדו מפניקטנים, בן מנוול אב, בת קמה באמה, כלה בחמותה, אויבי איש אנשי ביתו, פני הדור כפני הכלב, הבן אינו מתבייש מאביו. ועל מה יש לנו להשען? על אבינו שבשמים!

ועל מה יש לנו להשען? על אבינו שבשמים!!

The above Mishna prophetically describes what is happening in Israel today. 

The only way that Israel will defeat Edom, Ishamel and Amalek is by returning to Hashem in Repentance and by observing Torah.

When this happens Hashem will have no choice but to send his Mashiach to save Israel. 


It is that simple.

I Am The G-d of Beit-El

אָנֹכִי הָאֵל בֵּית אֵל

Beraishit 31.13- בראשית

13.’I am the G-d of Bet-El where you anointed there a 'Matzeva' (Pillar), where you vowed to Me there a vow; Now arise, get yourself out from this land and return to the Land of your birth- אָנֹכִי הָאֵל בֵּית אֵל אֲשֶׁר מָשַׁחְתָּ שָּׁם מַצֵּבָה אֲשֶׁר נָדַרְתָּ לִּי שָׁם נֶדֶר עַתָּה קוּם צֵא מִן הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת וְשׁוּב אֶל אֶרֶץ מוֹלַדְתֶּךָ (6722 = 17=8 or 11152=10=1 counting final Zadik, Nun, Mem and Kaf as 900, 700,600 and 500).

Rashi comments here that Hashem is commanding Jacob to return to that Place and pay his vow to bring sacrifices there (tithes) in order for it to become a “House of G-d” (Pirkei D’Rabbi Eliezer 32).

In the verse the letter “Heh”- הָ is written before the word “G-d”- הָאֵל.Rashi comments that the letter “Heh” is superfluous in meaning but it is the style of Scripture to speak in this manner (see B'Midbar 34.2- הָארץ כנען).

As shown above in regard to the gematria of the verse the letter "Heh"-הָ is far from "superfluous".

Moreover the gematria of the phrase teaches us the significance of the "extra" letter "Heh", It teaches us that he is "The 18"- "Hai"-ח"י. The Living One that sustains all life!

The phrase "El- Bet-El" - אֵל בֵּית אֵל (G-d of the House of G-d) can be understood as follows:
·         The word “G-d”-“El” -אֵל corresponds to the last two letters of the Torah, the last two letters of the word "Israel"- יִשְׂרָאֵל. It also means “to”-אֵֶלwith a change of vowel.
·         The word “house of” “Beit”- בֵּית is the spelling of to the first letter of the Torah- בְּ. The letter "Beit" is a prefix which means "with" or "in".
·         By reading these letters forwards and then backwards one ends, starts and ends the Torah.
·         As the end of the Torah is the beginning and vice-versa, the mid-point is found between the last letter- “Lamed” and the first letter- “Bet” of the Torah. This is the "point of balance" that we have to strive to be in order to be at one "with" or "in" Hashem- in His House; this is the Place that we have to go.-To the House of G-d! When we get there at the "End" we will realize that we never left in the "Beginning" as the Beginning and the End are One.
·         This is why Hashem calls Himself “The G-d of House of G-d”- הָאֵל בֵּית אֵל as the House of G-d -בֵּית אֵל is found in the mid-point of the Torah and there one can find "THE G-d" הָאֵל-The 18!
Midrash teaches us that in this verse Hashem is scalding the righteous Jacob for not returning and paying his vows. Does Jacob not realize that all the suffering he is undergoing is because he has not returned to Bet-El? - The Midrash exclaims "Until when will this Righteous One be whipped" - עד מתי הצדיק הזה לוקה? (Tanchuma Vayishlach 8.a).

Until when will this Righteous One be whipped?
עד מתי הצדיק הזה לוקה

Thus Hashem tells Jacob enough is enough! Get out have faith and return to where you came from.


This is an example of the "Diaspora" mentality of the Jew; a King who regards himself as a "grasshopper in the eyes of the inhabitants of the Land" that must suffer and be whipped by them. Today even when we have returned to our Land the Jew still refuses to remove the Diaspora mentality from his mind set and behave like a King! This task will be left to Mashiach who will throw off the yoke of the "Servitude of Nations"-שעבוד מלכיות and only then will the Jewish People be able to live as a free People in its own Land. 
And G-d Remembered Rachel
וַיִּזְכֹּר אֱלֹהִים אֶת רָחֵל
Beraishit 29.22 


22.’ And G-d remembered Rachel- וַיִּזְכֹּר אֱלֹהִים אֶת רָחֵל (968+4 words=972=18), and G-d hearkened to her, and He opened her womb-וַיִּשְׁמַע אֵלֶיהָ אֱלֹהִים וַיִּפְתַּח אֶת רַחְמָהּ (2276=17=8 counting final Mem as 600).

Rashi comments here that Hashem remembered Rachel in that she had given her sister Leah the signs on her wedding night and that she was frightened that Jacob would divorce her as she was barren (Tanchuma Yashan 20), and she would have to marry Esau who had heard that she had not borne children.

Jacob at this stage was in his 91st year. Rachel was in her 28th year.

The number 91 is the joint gematria of the Names "Hashem"-יהוה and "Adnut"- אדני.

The number 28 is the gematria of the word "Koach"- כח which means "powerfull/mighty".

Now Joseph could be conceived. Joseph was to be Rachel's first child and the eighth son of the two main wives-Rachel and Leah. He was the 11th son of Jacob and his 12th child.

The gematria of the words "and G-d remembered”- וַיִּזְכֹּר אֱלֹהִים is 889+2 words=891=18.

The gematria of the words “and G-d hearkened to her”- וַיִּשְׁמַע אֵלֶיהָ אֱלֹהִים is 1118.

The number 1118 is the gematria of the verse of the Shema prayer. Hashem heard Rachel through the Prayers of Jacob. Jacob knew that it was time for her to conceive and he prayed for her.

Hear O Israel Hashem is our G-d Hashem is One
שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ יהוה אֶחָד

In the light of Rashi's comment to the previous verse as to the birth of Dina by Leah*,these words could also be understood as Hashem listening also to Leah's prayer for her sister to have a male child. 

"Vayishma Aileah"- וַיִּשְׁמַע אֵלֶיהָ 

can be understood as

"Vayishma El Leah"- וַיִּשְׁמַע אֶל לֵאָה


*Rashi comments there that Dinah was named after the word Judgment-דין as Leah made a judgment about herself that if this child was a boy then Rachel could not even be like a maidservant because it was known that Jacob was to have 12 sons and if  this child was a boy Rachel could only have one son. Leah prayed over it and the sex of the child turned into a female (Berachot 60.a; Tanchuma 8).

Thus Hashem heard all three of them praying for Rachel to conceive and he hearkened to her. As a result of these prayers Joseph was born.

מה ששנוא עליך לא תעשה לחברך

This is the entire Torah and the rest is interpretation
זו כל התורה והשאר פירוש הוא
1799=26=8

And you shall love you fellow like yourself
וְאָהַבְתָּ לְרֵעֲךָ כָּמוֹךָ
820=10=1

This is the Whole Entire Torah
זו היא כל התורה כולה
756=18


One-אחד     =   1

Leg-רגל = 332=8

Thus the entire Torah is a combination of the numbers 1 and 8
and the rest is interpretation!

וְאָהַבְתָּ לְרֵעֲךָ כָּמוֹךָ

This is a central principle of Judaism-“This is the entire Torah”- זו היא כל התורה כולה as both Hillel the Elder, President of the Sanhedrin, and Rabbi Akiva teach us. When accosted by converts who begged to be taught Torah on “one leg”-רגל אחד they answered the Mitzvah to “love of one’s fellow as oneself” -וְאָהַבְתָּ לְרֵעֲךָ כָּמוֹךָ is equal to all the Mitzvoth of the Torah-in fact it is the entire Torah, and the rest of the Torah is the interpretation of this Mitzvah.

Beraishit 28.10-12- בראשית

Jacob Meets Rachel
יעקב פוגש את רחל

10.’And it was that when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, and Jacob approached and he rolled the stone from the mouth of the well, and he watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother-וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר רָאָהיַעֲקֹב אֶת רָחֵל בַּת לָבָן אֲחִי אִמּוֹ וְאֶת צֹאן לָבָן אֲחִי אִמּוֹ וַיִּגַּשׁ יַעֲקֹב וַיָּגֶל אֶת הָאֶבֶן מֵעַל פִּי הַבְּאֵר וַיַּשְׁקְ אֶת צֹאן לָבָן אֲחִי אִמּוֹ (9278=26=8).

11.’ And Jacob kissed Rachel and he raised his voice- וַיִּשַּׁק יַעֲקֹב לְרָחֵל וַיִּשָּׂא אֶת קֹלוֹ (1720=10=1) and he wept- וַיֵּבְךְּ (518=14=8 counting final Kaf as 500).

12.’And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rivkah's son;  and she ranand she told her father-וַיַּגֵּד יַעֲקֹב לְרָחֵל כִּי אֲחִי אָבִיהָ הוּא וְכִי בֶן רִבְקָה הוּא וַתָּרָץ וַתַּגֵּד לְאָבִיהָ (3576+14 words=3590=17=8).


The meeting of Jacob and Rachel at the well (verses 10-12 above) is described with nine verbs-eight of them describing Jacob’s actions andtwo of them describing Rachel’s action:
1.      He Saw                             - רָאָה =206
2.      And he approached         -וַיִּגַּשׁ  =319
3.       And he rolled                    - וַיָּגֶל  =49
4.      And he watered              - וַיַּשְׁקְ =416
5.      And he kissed                 - וַיִּשַּׁק =416
6.      And he raised                 - וַיִּשָּׂא =317
7.      And he wept                    - וַיֵּבְךְּ =518
8.      And he told                      - וַיַּגֵּד =23
9.      And she ran                    - וַתָּרָץ =1506
10.  And she told-                      וַתַּגֵּד =413

4183+10 words=4193=17=8 (final letters)

The joint gematria of the words “Our Father Jacob”- יעקב אבינו and “Our Mother Rachel”- רחל אמינו is 596.

The number 596 is the gematria of the word “Jerusalem”-ירושלים.

When Jacob and Rachel are Reunited and Rachel stops crying from bitterness then the Temple in Jerusalem will be rebuilt:

And the Children shall return to their borders

 וְשָׁבוּ בָנִים לִגְבוּלָם
