The 44 Sacrifces of the Eighth Day

 44 הקרבנות ביום השמיני

There were 8 Specific Sacrifices Offered by Aaron and his sons on the 8th Day (First  of Nissan 2449) ,

In addition the following sacrifices were offered on the eighth day: These additional offerings were:
·         The 2 daily sheep offerings (morning and afternoon);
·         The 11 Rosh Chodesh (New Moon) Offerings;
·         The 23 Offerings of Nachshon ben Aminadav the Prince of the Tribe of Judah who was the first of the Princes to bring offerings as related in Parshat Naso (B’Midbar 7. 12-17).
8+2+11+23=44=8

Nachshon was the only Prince who was not called “Prince” in that Chapter. Instead he is called “THE ONE that offered ON THE FIRST DAY”- הַמַּקְרִיב בַּיּוֹם הָרִאשׁוֹן. He was chosen as the leader of all the Princes as it was he who entered first into the Reed-Sea and caused it to divide (See my commentary to Parshat “B'Shalach”) and he was destined to give birth to the Davidic Dynasty of the Kings of Israel. As Nachshon entered the Reed-Sea first and was the first person who was prepared to sacrifice himself to glorify the Name of Hashem in public, so he was one that was designated to sacrifice his offerings first. It is from his seed that the Mashiach will come forth and rebuild the Third Temple. May he be revealed speedily in our days!

THE ONE that offered ON THE FIRST DAY
הַמַּקְרִיב בַּיּוֹם הָרִאשׁוֹן
977+3 words=980=17=8 or 2187=18

The gematria of Nachshon- נַחְשׁוֹן is 414=1+8.

The gematria of “on the first day"- בַּיּוֹם הָרִאשׁוֹן is 620=8.

The number 620 is the gematria of the word "Keter"- כֶּתֶר. It was Nachshon who took the "Keter" (Crown) for ascending to the Eighth Sphira through sheer Faith.

Nachshon-The One who sacrificed on the First Day

Thus Nachshon was the 1st on the 8th day.

12.’And the one that brought on the first day his offering –וַיְהִי הַמַּקְרִיב בַּיּוֹם הָרִאשׁוֹן אֶת קָרְבָּנו (1767+6 words=1773=18)-Nachshon the son of Aminadav of the Tribe of Judah- נַחְשׁוֹן בֶּן עַמִּינָדָב לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָה (756=18).
13.’And his Offering was- וְקָרְבָּנוֹ(364+1 word=14=8): one silver dish its weight a thirty and one hundred (shekels)- קַעֲרַת כֶּסֶף אַחַת  שְׁלֹשִׁים וּמֵאָה מִשְׁקָלָהּ (2546 = 17 =8), one silver basin of seventy shekels of the sacred shekel-מִזְרָק אֶחָד כֶּסֶף  שִׁבְעִים שֶׁקֶל בְּשֶׁקֶל הַקֹּדֶשׁ (2213=8), both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil for a Meal-Offering-שְׁנֵיהֶם מְלֵאִים  סֹלֶת בְּלוּלָה בַשֶּׁמֶן לְמִנְחָה (3384=18 counting final Nun and Mems as 700 and 600).
There were thus two Meal-Offerings.
14.’One ladle golden of ten (weight in shekels) filled of incense-כַּף אַחַת עֲשָׂרָה זָהָב מְלֵאָה קְטֹרֶת (1883+6 words=26=8).
15.’One young bull, one ram, one sheep in its first year for an Olah-Offering-פַּר אֶחָד בֶּן בָּקָר אַיִל אֶחָד כֶּבֶשׂ אֶחָד בֶּן שְׁנָתוֹ לְעֹלָה (1979=26=8).
16.’One he- goat for a Sin-Offering- שְׂעִיר עִזִּים אֶחָד לְחַטָּאת (1728-18 counting final Mem as 600).
17.’And for the Sacrifice of the Peace-Offerings, two oxen five rams, five he-goats, five sheep of the first year: This was the offering of Nachshon the son of Amminadav-וּלְזֶבַח הַשְּׁלָמִים בָּקָר שְׁנַיִם אֵילִם חֲמִשָּׁה עַתּוּדִים חֲמִשָּׁה כְּבָשִׂים בְּנֵי שָׁנָה חֲמִשָּׁה   זֶה קָרְבַּן נַחְשׁוֹן בֶּן עַמִּינָדָב (4645 + 17 words =4662=18).

By adding the gematria of all these 44 offerings together there were in total, the following result is obtained:

From the above we can now truly understand why this day was called the “Day of Eight” as in the daytime of the Eighth Day- בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי of the Inauguration of the Sanctuary there were brought 44 (8) Offerings which had a joint gematria of 8.
