See the Blessing and the Curse

    

This is the Essence of the Torah.

It is good to those who keep it (a blessing) and bad to those who do not (a curse) as it is written in Parshat Re'eh (D’Varim 10.26-8):

26.’See, I set before you today a blessing and a curse- רְאֵה אָנֹכִי נֹתֵן לִפְנֵיכֶם הַיּוֹם בְּרָכָה וּקְלָלָה (1476 =18).

27.’The Blessing: if you shall listen to the Commandments of Hashem your G-d, which I command you- אֶת הַבְּרָכָה אֲשֶׁר תִּשְׁמְעוּ אֶל מִצְו‍ֹת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוֶּה אֶתְכֶם (3833 =17=8), today- הַיּוֹם (61+1 word=8).

28. ’And The Curse: if you shall not listen to the Commandments of Hashem your   G-d, but turn astray from the path which I command you today to follow other gods, which you have not known- וְהַקְּלָלָה אִם לֹא תִשְׁמְעוּ אֶל מִצְו‍ֹת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם וְסַרְתֶּם מִן הַדֶּרֶךְ אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוֶּה אֶתְכֶם הַיּוֹם לָלֶכֶת אַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְדַעְתֶּם (6133+23 words=6156=18).

·                 See-                         רְאֵה  =206=      8
·         The Blessing-     הַבְּרָכָה =232+1=  8
·         The Curse-          הַקְלָלָה =170=      8
