9.’ And G-d said, ‘Let the waters beneath the Heavens be gathered together to one place, so that the dry land becomes visible’. And it was so.

Rashi comments here that the waters were gathered together into the Ocean-אוקינוסwhich is called “the greatest sea of all the seas”- הים הגדול בכל הימים (Pirkei D’Rabbi Eliezer 5; Beraishit Rabbah 5.2; Torat Kohanim, Shemini, Parshata 3).

 And G-d said, ‘Let the waters beneath the Heavens be gathered together to one place

וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יִקָּווּ הַמַּיִם מִתַּחַת הַשָּׁמַיִם אֶל מָקוֹם אֶחָד

Noah-Abraham-Moses

There is a connection between Noah- נח, Abraham- אברהם and Moses- משה.

The joint gematria of these three names is 1211+3 words=8.

Noah saved mankind for Abraham who was the first Jew and Moses redeemed the Jewish People from Egypt. Without these three the Jewish People would not be here today.

There were 10 generations from Noah to Abraham and 7 generations from Abraham to Moses. 

10+7=17=8

The joint gematriot of these 17 people (counting final letters) is as follows:

From all the above we see that the sole purpose of the World being saved by Noah was for Abraham to establish his Dynasty in the Land of Canaan (Israel) in order for Moses to lead the Exodus of Israel from Egypt 17 (8) generations after Noah.

Noah, Abraham and Moses all symbolize ends and beginnings in the History of the Jewish People.

The Master of this plan is Hashem (26=8) and His Plan is written in the Torah-תורה(611=8).

This Divine Plan we will see unfold as we study the Torah.

It is still unfolding today before our very eyes.

Rashi comments  (Beraishit 32.5) that Jacob “sojourned” with Laban but managed to observe the 613 commandments of the Torah:

עם לבן רשע גרתי ותרי"ג מצות שמרתי

In fact the sole reason why Jacob survived and was able to defeat Laban was due to the fact that he observed the 613 commandments of Torah. By doing so it placed him in the Eighth Sphira where he received Divine Protection.

The Covenant of the Rainbow

17.’And G-d said to Noah, ’This is the Sign of the Covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth- וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל נֹחַ זֹאת אוֹת הַבְּרִית אֲשֶׁר הֲקִמֹתִי בֵּינִי וּבֵין כָּל בָּשָׂר אֲשֶׁר עַל הָאָרֶץ (4509=17=8).

Rashi comments here that Hashem actually showed Noah the Rainbow.

The joint gematria of the words:

A Rainbow is usually a semi circle-half a circle.

The gematria of the word “half”-חצי is 108.

The Seven (Eight) “Noahide Laws”

There are seven Universal Laws - known as the “Seven Noahide Laws” whose performance G-d obligated upon all of mankind, both Jew and Gentile. These commandments may be regarded as the foundations of human morality. The Talmud (Sanhedrin 56.a-b) relates these seven Noahide Laws, the observance of which all mankind may attain spiritual perfection, and without which moral depravity will ensue.

According to tradition the first six Laws were given to Adam and the generations before the Flood and the seventh was added after the Flood and appears in verse 4 above-eating flesh cut from a live animal. As I wrote above, this seventh Law actually comprises of two prohibitions. This is the view of Rabbi Hanania ben Gamliel as written in the Talmud-the prohibition to drink the blood of a living animal as well as not cutting and eating its flesh while it is alive.

The gematria of the words “Seven Laws”- שבע מצות is 908=17=8 or + 2 words=19=10=1.

The Talmud in Sanhedrin 56.a-b lists these Laws: 

Our Rabbis taught: seven precepts were the sons of Noah commanded: Laws [Social Legal System]; to refrain from blasphemy, idolatry; adultery/incest; bloodshed [Murder]; robbery; and eating flesh cut from a living animal.

R. Hanania b. Gamaliel said: Also not to partake of the blood drawn from a living animal…

Let us analyze the gematriaot of these Seven Laws according to their spelling in the Talmud:

As related above, the 7^th Law comprises of two prohibitions-Eating the flesh and drinking the blood of a live animal.

It is interesting to note that the joint gematria of these two prohibitions- אבר מן החי - דם מן החי is 2333+6 words=17=8 counting final Nuns and Mem as 700 and 600.

The 17th of Cheshvan –the day when the Flood started-also commemorates the day on which King Solomon completed the work on the First Temple. By then King Solomon had been king for eleven years. Although the building was completed on the 17th of Cheshvan, the Temple was not consecrated until the the 1^st of Tishrei in the following year-11 months later.

Why did King Solomon declare the Temple complete on the 17^th of Cheshvan- the commemoration of the day of the Flood? 

Because he was “The Son of David” - בן דוד!

The gematria of the words “Solomon Son of David”-שלמה בן דוד is 441.

The number 441 is the gematria as the word “TRUTH”-אמת.

King Solomon the wisest man that ever lived knew that the Final Temple would be built by the Mashiach. This Temple would usher in a new era of the understanding of Hashem’s ways bringing mankind close to Hashem. King Solomon thought he was the Mashiach. Before Solomon built the Temple there was no Temple on the Temple Mount just as today there is no Temple. He thought that the First Temple would be the Last Temple as the beginning is the end and vice versa. He was mistaken. 

King Solomon knew that the “Final” Temple would be inaugurated on the 17^th-28^th of Cheshvan from understanding Parshat Noah. As he so  wanted to construct the Temple as his father King David had instructed him, he wanted that the First Temple would also be the Last Temple. By counting 12 days of inauguration from the 17^th of Cheshvan (like there were at the time of the Inauguration of the Sanctuary in the Wilderness), the 28^th of Cheshvan, ythe day that Noah exited the Ark and offered up sacrifices to Hashem would fall on the 12^th and final day of Inauguration of the First Temple!

If King Solomon’s Temple had been inaugurated in Cheshvan it could not have been destroyed and he would have been the Mashiach. Thus Hashem ordered him to wait 11 months till Tishrei to inaugurate it.

King Solomon, as Noah before him, too thought that he was The Mashiach as he finished building the Temple on on the 17^thof Cheshvan.  He too was mistaken…

The Mashiach who will be a descendant of King David and King Solomon will rebuild the Third and Final Temple at the time of the Redemption of Israel. This is why Jews have waited patiently for over 2000 years for the arrival of “The Son of David”, who will build the Third Temple and Redeem Israel from their Exile.

The 28^th of Cheshvan corresponds to the last day of the Inauguration of the Third Temple by Mashiach. This is why the Flood ended on the 27^th of Cheshvan and why Noah exited the Ark on the 28^th and made sacrifices to Hashem. Hashem then made the Covenant of the Rainbow-ברית קשת (1412=8) on this day.
