The Commandment of Circumcision

12.’ At the age of eight days every male among you shall be circumcised throughout your generations; one that is born in the household, or bought with money of any stranger that is not of your offspring-

וּבֶן שְׁמֹנַת יָמִים יִמּוֹל לָכֶם כָּל זָכָר לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם יְלִיד בָּיִת וּמִקְנַת כֶּסֶף מִכֹּל בֶּן נֵכָר אֲשֶׁר לֹא מִזַּרְעֲךָ הוּא

This gematria is one of the most powerful gematriot in the entire Torah as it shows the inherent connection of the commandment of Circumcision, the 8^th day and Hashem-יהוה (26) encrypted in the Code of 1 and 8. 

The verse can be divided so:

·         At the age of eight days every male among you shall be circumcised throughout your generations- וּבֶן שְׁמֹנַת יָמִים יִמּוֹל לָכֶם כָּל זָכָר לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם (2105=8);

·         One that is born in the household, or bought with money of any stranger that is not of your offspring- יְלִיד בָּיִת וּמִקְנַת כֶּסֶף מִכֹּל בֶּן נֵכָר אֲשֶׁר לֹא מִזַּרְעֲךָ הוּא (4365=18 counting final Peh and Nun as 800 and 700).

Rashi clarifies here that a child born to a slave-woman or to a slave-woman who is pregnant the child is born at eight days old. If purchased after birth the child is circumcised immediately (Shabbat 135.b).

The gematria of the words “eight days old”- וּבֶן שְׁמֹנַת יָמִים is 942+3 words=18.

The gematria of the words “eight days”- שְׁמֹנַת יָמִים is 890=17=8 or + 2 words=19=10=1.

The gematria of the words “one that is born in the household”- יְלִיד בָּיִת is 466+2 words=18.

The gematria of the words “or bought with money of any stranger”-וּמִקְנַת כֶּסֶף מִכֹּל בֶּן נֵכָר is 2538=18 counting final Peh and Nun as 800 and 700).

The gematria of the words “son of a stranger”- בֶּן נֵכָר is 972=18 counting final Nun as 700.

The fact that the circumcision is to take place on the eighth day teaches us that it is a commandment from the Eighth Sphira. On the 8^th day a Jewish male soul is developed. The day of the circumcision can also be seen as THE “birthday” of a Jewish male as it is the day when he enters into the “Covenant of Our Father Abraham”-בריתו של אברהם אבינו

Beraishit 17.10- בראשית

 The Commandment of Circumcision attaches the physical (1) to the metaphysical (8). This is proven from the following gematriot of the verse.

10.’This is My Covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your offspring after you shall circumcise every male among you-זֹאת בְּרִיתִי אֲשֶׁר תִּשְׁמְרוּ בֵּינִי וּבֵינֵיכֶם וּבֵין זַרְעֲךָ אַחֲרֶיךָ הִמּוֹל לָכֶם כָּל זָכָר (3739+13 words=3752=17=8).

Rashi comments that the command is for all time-then and the future-all generations.

Rashi comments here that this is the “Covenant of Love”-ברית של אהבהand the “Covenant of the Land”- ברית הארץ through fulfilling the Commandment of circumcision.

 Ishmael- a wild ass of a man

12.’ And he shall be a wild ass of a man; his hand against everything, and every man's hand against him; and over all his brothers he shall dwell-וְהוּא יִהְיֶה פֶּרֶא אָדָם יָדוֹ בַכֹּל וְיַד כֹּל בּוֹ וְעַל פְּנֵי כָל אֶחָיו יִשְׁכֹּן (1225=10=1 or 2435=14=8 counting final Nun and Mem as 700 and 600).

The verse can be divided so:

·         And he shall be a wild ass of a man- וְהוּא יִהְיֶה פֶּרֶא אָדָם (374+4 words=18);
·         His hand against everything, and every man's hand against him; and over all his brothers he shall dwell- יָדוֹ בַכֹּל וְיַד כֹּל בּוֹ וְעַל פְּנֵי כָל אֶחָיו יִשְׁכֹּן(1501+10 words=1511=8).

Rashi comments here that Ishmael loved dwelling in deserts and hunting (see Beraishit 21.20) and he was a bandit. All would hate him and provoke him yet his offspring were numerous.

Nothing has changed after 3500 years except that now Ishmael is turning the western nations of Edom into a desert. The tremendous immigration of Muslims into Europe will be a source of much tension and hatred, eventually leading to the destruction and desolation of these countries from within turning them into spiritual and physical "deserts". Edom will receive its "just deserts" through Ishmael for persecuting the Jewish People for centuries.

A wild ass of a man

Pereh Adam

פֶּרֶא אָדָם

The words "wild ass of a man"- פֶּרֶא אָדָם"pereh adam" teach us that there is a connection between Ishmael and "Parah Adumah"- פָרָה אֲדֻמָּה, the Red Heifer. This connection I explain in Parshat Terumah and Parshat Chukkat. The following gematriot prove this inner connection:

At the end of Days the Mashiach will arrive and slaughter the 10^th and final Red Heifer finally ridding the world of impurity and the egotistical pride of Ishmael.

The Conception of Ishmael

Beraishit 16.4- בראשית

            

4.’ And he came to Hagar and she conceived, and she (Sarai) saw that she (Hagar) had conceived, and her mistress became lighter in her eyes-וַיָּבֹא אֶל הָגָר וַתַּהַר וַתֵּרֶא כִּי הָרָתָה וַתֵּקַל גְּבִרְתָּהּ בְּעֵינֶיהָ (3409+10 words=3419=17=8).

The verse can be divided so:

·         And he came to Hagar and she conceived- וַיָּבֹא אֶל הָגָר וַתַּהַר(869+3 words=872=17=8);
·         And she saw that she had conceived, and her mistress became lighter in her eyes- וַתֵּרֶא כִּי הָרָתָה וַתֵּקַל גְּבִרְתָּהּ בְּעֵינֶיהָ (2540+6 words=17=8).

Rashi states that she conceived at the first time of having relations (Beraishit Rabbah 45.4). Hagar after becoming pregnant so easily changed her mind about her mistress and thought that she could not be so devout if she was not worthy of becoming pregnant after all those years.

The gematria of the word “and she conceived”- וַתַּהַר is 611=8. This is the gematria of the word “Torah”-תורה.

From this gematria we learn why Hagar looked at Sarah differently after she had conceived. She thought to herself how could she not conceive if she is keeping the commandments of the Torah? Thus she thought secretly that Sarai was not keeping the commandments and was thus not worthy of conception. This principle she instilled in the ears of her son Ishmael from the time that he was a small child- that the Jewish People can be defeated if they do not observe the Torah.

These words are very true. That is why Israel has to repent.

That is why Ishmael- יִשְׁמָעֵאל was born so that Israel- יִשְׂרָאֵל will cry out in repentance by saying the "Shema Israel"- שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל Prayer and be "heard by G-d"- יִשְׁמָע-אֵל at the End of Days.

Both names appear in the first two words of the Shema Prayer. In this way Ishmael will bring Israel back to G-d in repentance and G-d will listen to them and save them.

The name "Sarai"- שָׂרַי appears in the same two words:

שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל

Sarai listened to G-d

שָׂרַי שְׁמַע אֵל

This is why Abram listened to the voice of his wife Sarai and took Hagar as a wife in order to bring Ishmael into the world.

The Flaming Torch and the Smoking Furnace

17.’ And it was, that when the sun set, and there was darkness, and behold), a smoking furnace, and a flaming torch that passed between these pieces- וַיְהִי הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ בָּאָה וַעֲלָטָה הָיָה וְהִנֵּה תַנּוּר עָשָׁן וְלַפִּיד אֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר עָבַר בֵּין הַגְּזָרִים הָאֵלֶּה (3538=19=10=1).

The verse can be divided so:

·         And it was that when the sun set, and there was darkness, and behold- וַיְהִי הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ בָּאָהוַעֲלָטָה הָיָה וְהִנֵּה (890=17=8);

·         A smoking furnace and a flaming torch that passed between these pieces- תַנּוּר עָשָׁן וְלַפִּיד אֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר עָבַר בֵּין הַגְּזָרִים הָאֵלֶּה (4508=17=8counting final Nuns and Mem as 700 and 600).

Rashi comments here that Hashem showed Abraham that in the future the four Kingdoms would fall into "Gehinnom"- גהינם (108) (Pirkei D'Rabbi Eliezer 28). 

The Four Kingdoms that will be annihilated at the End of Days are found in the Book of Daniel (Chap.8):

·         Babylon-                           בבל  =34

·         Median-Persian-  מדי ופרס   =400

·         Greece-                              יון    =66

·         Edom (Rome)-              אדום   =51

Our Sages teach us that there is also a fifth nation that persecutes the Jewish People –Ishmael-ישמעאל. This is Islam- אסלם.

Interestingly the word "Islam"- אסלם is spelt with the same letters as the Angel of Death-"Samel"-סמאל. This is no coincidence.

The gematria of Ishmael- ישמעאל is 451.

The joint gematria of all five nations including Ishmael is:

551+451= 1002+6 words=1008

From here we now understand the significance of the phrase in the vision of Abraham:

The Bird he did not divide

Thus Hashem will annihilate (cut in two) His enemies that have persecuted His Children, the Children of Israel, over the centuries, but the Jewish People (the bird- הַצִּפֹּר) he will save. He will send Ishmael/Islam to do it.

At the End of Days Islam Hashem will turn Ishmael loose upon all the four other nations and destroy them. Then Hashem will save the Jewish People in the Final Redemption and give them the lands of the 10 nations that were promised to Abraham.

The gematria of the words “and it was that when the sun set”- וַיְהִי הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ בָּאָה is 684=18.

The gematria of the words “there was darkness”- עֲלָטָה הָיָה is 134=8.

The gematria of the words “smoking furnace”- תַנּוּר עָשָׁן is 1726+2 words=18 counting final Nun as 700.

The gematria of the words “and a flaming torch”- וְלַפִּיד אֵשׁ is 431=8.

The "smoking furnace"- תַנּוּר עָשָׁן and the "flaming torch"- לַפִּיד אֵשׁ in this verse correspond to the "Pillar of Cloud"- עמוד הענן (945= 18 counting final Nun as 700) and the "Pillar of Fire"- עמוד האש   (426+2 words=14=8) that accompanied the Children of Israel for forty years in the Wilderness from the time of the Exodus from Egypt.

The following gematria supports this opinion:
